Just finished an almost year-long effort to write three children’s books. Challenge was to write a personal message to my three grandchildren and to co-run the project with my wife. The work made me think a lot of things, most interesting was to wonder what kind of book I would have written to my parents. For the kids, I wanted to entertain and to enlighten a bit. For my parents, my¬†approach would have changed dramatically depending on my age.

In my youth, my effort would have been to educate them, help them keep up with what was important (to me). The book would have been insulting and probably entertaining. Later, in middle age, it’d be a book thanking them for all they did and how much I love them. If I could reach them now? I’d ask them to write a book.
